Marjorie L. Hart

Marjorie L Hart, 87, of rural Oxville, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Jacksonville. She was born October 28, 1936, in Jacksonville, the daughter of William (Bill) and Pearl Wilson West. She married Darrell Hart on October 3, 1954, in the first wedding ceremony in the Oxville Methodist Church. Darrell preceded her in death on August 13, 2012. Surviving are two children, DeWayne (Penni) Hart of rural Bluffs and Patricia Ann (Jim) Padgett of Oxville, 11 grandchildren: Keith (Nicole) Hart of Seymour, Mo, Tina Jones (Jeff Tolliver) of Jacksonville, Kristen (Jared) Lash of Chicago, Tara (Derek) Prewitt of Jacksonville, Hallie (Bill) Shireman of Anderson, South Carolina, Hannah (Tyree) Meadows of Phenix City, Alabama, Sydney Taber (Preston Pitchford) of Oxville, and Landon Hart (Lauren Archer) of rural Bluffs, Darrell (Angie) Anders of Bluffs, Beth-Ann (Shane) Luttrell of Springfield, and Kayle Anders (Sam Decker) of Palmyra; 23 great-grandchildren, Tyler Bennett, Brandon Jones, Jason Timmons, Maddi, Dallas, Blaine, Kendall, and Colter Shireman, Peyton and Malia Meadows, Drake Woodson, Brenden and Ryan Anders, Cole Higginson, Gage, Drake, and Kennedy Luttrell, Sophie, Paisley, Charley, Jayden Hayes and Jackson and Finley Decker. brothers Bill (Rona) West and Neal West, and sisters Betty Smith of White Hall and Pat West of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Darrell Hart, sisters Beverly Northrop and Phyllis Allen, and brother Gary West. Marjorie was baptized into the Baptist faith. Most recently she attended the First Christian Church in Winchester. She was a homemaker while her children were younger. She baked many wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and pies for several families and businesses. Later she worked in the Scott County Clerk's office as Deputy Clerk until her retirement. Marjorie and Darrell enjoyed traveling, touring the Grand Canyon, the East Coast, and Canada. They loved attending and dancing at live country music shows. Most of all, she had a great love for her family. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Bluffs, with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery near Bluffs. A visitation will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Oxville Methodist Church or the Hillcrest Cemetery Fund.
