Neil Jared Mueller

Neil Jared Mueller, of rural Bluffs, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois, surrounded by those who loved him. Neil was born March 5, 1947, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of C.O. and Bernadine (Bunny) Mueller. Neil had three brothers: Lari(deceased) wife Linda,Marc wife Reba and Doug. In 1967, Neil married the love of his life, Connie Jo Nunes. Connie survives him, as does their son, Jeffrey Jared Mueller of Decatur, Illinois. Neil‘s first job was a heavy equipment operator for Freesen, Incorporated. For many years, Neil was the owner of Mueller Farm Center, where he proudly served farmers throughout Central Illinois by providing livestock feed and farm services. For approximately 50 years, Neil, Connie, and Jeff worked together raising livestock and grain in rural Bluffs. Farming was a way of life for Neil and his family. Neil attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and later served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluffs. Like all of us, Neil faced struggles and carried his own burdens but he always found peace in his relationship with Christ. He loved fishing and hunting, spending time in the timber, and gathering ginseng. Those who knew Neil well will remember his personality, his dry sense of humor and his independence. He enjoyed his “slow rides” with his dog in the mornings and always had “funny stories” that only Neil could tell. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.O. and Bernadine (Bunny) Mueller, stepmother Aliene, his eldest brother Lari Mueller, cousin Ross Kunkel and his cherished in-laws, Bill and June Nunes. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 1/2 years, Connie Jo Mueller; his son, Jeffrey Jared Mueller; several nieces and nephews and the many family members and friends whose lives he touched throughout his years. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from suffering, and in the presence of his Savior. Neil will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Bluffs with interment in Concord Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
