Maxine Coultas, 86, of Winchester passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at the Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born, July 18, 1929, in Oxville, the daughter of Oscar and Daisy Davis Gregory. She married Lloyd “Weary” Coultas, Feb. 23, 1946, in Winchester. He preceded her in death, Sept. 14, 1982. Surviving are five children, Connie (Don) Houser of Springfield, Tina (Jeremy) Brown, Raquel (Mike) Moore, Phyllis (Gerald) Evans, and Lawrence (Sherry) Coultas all of Winchester; six grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Stiltz, Stacy (Aaron) Gregory, Eric (Jesse) Graham, Matt Jacobs, Kurt (Ashley) Graham, and Shawn Brown; and five great grandchildren. A son, Mark C. Coultas, a great granddaughter, and six siblings, Alvin, Ivan, and Don Gregory, Myrtle Roach, Eula Buhlig, and Rosemary Kirkpatrick preceded her in death. Maxine was a member of the Winchester First Baptist Church. As a teenager, she worked for the Lyric Theater in Winchester, later for 28 years for the Winchester City Library. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to the local bridge club for many years. Most of all, she loved her family. She lived for family gatherings; always ready to “adopt” neighborhood kids into her family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Winchester Public Library. Condolences may be left online at www.dawsfuneralhome.com.
