Carol Colleen McEvers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carol Colleen McEvers, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Winchester, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, surrounded by her family. Carol was born, Mar. 2, 1936, in White Hall. She was the fourth of eight children born to William and Carrie Cryder Schroeder. Carol graduated from White Hall High School in 1954. She married Willis Gayle McEvers, June 25, 1954, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in White Hall. They shared 57 years of marriage, life, and love. Gayle preceded her in death, June 25, 2011. Surviving are children; Grace McEvers (companion, Brian Hynes), Mike (Brenda) McEvers all of Jacksonville, Barb (Steve) Hoots of Winchester; grandchildren, Matt McEvers (fiancée, Amber Colston) of Roodhouse, Kaila (Jim) Pfieffer of Manhattan, Ashley (Zach) Mast of Columbia, MO and Derek (Eileen) Hoots of Carol Stream; great grandchildren, Lily McEvers, Kamden, Karter, Kash, Kane (and baby girl Pfieffer arriving in March) Pfieffer, Cooper and Millie Mast, Elliot and Jack Hoots; sister, Shirley Berg of Virden; brothers, Gary Schroeder of St. Petersburg, FL, David (Karen) Schroeder of Jerseyville; foster sister, Dorothy (Mike) Camerer of Murrayville; sister-in-law, Rosie Schroeder of Mt. Pulaski; brother-in-law, Weldon Cooper of White Hall; as well as, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Schroeder; sisters, Dorcas Retzer, Edie Cooper, and Sue Wyatt; brother-in-law, Gerald Berg; and sister-in-law, Helen Schroeder. Carol was of the Baptist faith attending Sandridge Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Edward M. King Insurance Agency for many years. She loved spending time with all her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Carol enjoyed wintering in Florida until declining health prevented her from traveling. She often spoke of her many memories of family trips that were taken over the years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Glasgow Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Memorials are suggested to the Sandridge Baptist Church.
