Eleanor Irene Evans, 96, of Winchester passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born, Feb. 22, 1919, the fourth of thirteen children to Ezra and Clara Parker Little. She married Theodore Evans, July 29, 1937 in Bowling Green, MO. After 65 years of marriage, Theodore preceded her in death, Dec. 17, 2002. Surviving are two children, Wanda (Harold) Pence and Gary (Debra) Evans all of Winchester; six grandchildren, Donna Givens, Dan Smith, Shirley Ehlert, Debra Smith, Laura McClanahan, and David Evans; nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Ercil Little of Jacksonville, Darrell (Deborah) Little of Jacksonville, Bruce (Nancy) Little of Las Vegas, NV, and Arlene (Harry) Northrop of Wood River; and four sisters-in-law, Mona Little of Kansas, Fran Little of Jacksonville, Diana Little of Nevada, and Helen Little of Vermont. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Smith and eight siblings, Vera Little, Clarence Little, Evelyn Smith, Donald Parker Little, Dean Little, Ila Carlton, Russell Little, and Larry Little. Mrs. Evans was as member of the Sandridge Baptist Church in Winchester. She was employed by Illinois Rural Electric as an office manager for 20 years before retiring. Eleanor started school when she was a very young child; graduating from Winchester High School at age sixteen. She enjoyed raising chickens on the family farm, cooking, and hosting family dinners. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. with the family meeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Carmi Children’s Home, Scott County Nursing Center, or the Winchester EMS.
