Eva Joanne McLaughlin

Eva Joanne McLaughlin, 88, of Winchester passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, in Winchester. She was born, Dec. 17, 1936, the daughter of Jesse Ewing and Jessie E. Coultas McDonald. She was also the loving stepdaughter of R. R. Riggs. Eva Jo married Hal L. McLaughlin, Dec. 23, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Winchester. Hal preceded her in death, Oct. 26, 2013. Surviving are children Debbi (Gary) Scott of Jacksonville, Suzi (Ben) Kinser of Winchester, Judi (Dan) Greenhill of Chandler, AZ, Shari (Leo) Anslyn of Winchester, Bill (Sherri) McLaughlin of Jacksonville and Phil (Karen) McLaughlin of Winchester; 17 grandchildren; Lara Fluhr, Mandi Chukin, Jessi Bigelow, Kati Borgens, Derek Grey, Angie Scott, Missy McMillen, Alex Barnes, Andrew Greenhill, Trevor Anslyn, Cassi Evans, Zach Anslyn, Michael McLaughlin, Danielle Heneisen, Nyki Long, Andrea Watson, and Braden McLaughlin; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and one surviving brother, Ted McDonald. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Darlington and two brothers, Jack Riggs & Jim Riggs. Eva Jo was a 1955 graduate of Winchester High School. She was a very proud Winchester Wildcat and maintained friendships with many of her classmates, planning and attending class reunions. She was loved by many and the life of the party. After several years of working at home & raising her family, Eva Jo joined the workforce in 1971 as the 1st Activity Director for the newly opened Scott County Nursing Center. Her love for the residents and staff was an example of the love she shared in life. After 15 years with SCNC, she joined ISD as an overnight dorm parent. Eva Jo was a member of the First Christian Church of Winchester. Her hobbies were many! She enjoyed camping, finding the perfect antique, playing FanTan & Bridge, painting, her investment club, golfing, and shopping. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a fan and booster of the Wildcats and Cougars. She seldom missed an event, especially when her children or grandchildren were participating. She was very proud of her family. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester. Memorials can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. The address is 650 N.
