Gary Joseph Fellhauer

November 17, 1944 - June 9, 2018

Gary Joseph Fellhauer, 73, of Jacksonville died Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born, Nov. 17, 1944, in Jacksonville, the son of John Odell and Mary Mardelle Thompson Fellhauer. Gary married Patricia Drake, July 13, 1968, at the Church of Our Savior by Rev. Monsignor Michael Driscoll. Gary and Patty were married for soon to be 50 years. Surviving is wife, Patty and three siblings; Reg (Rosemary), Odell (Kathy) and Brad (Kim) Fellhauer; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary graduated from Routt Catholic High School (1962) and then joined the Air Force (1962-1966). After military service, he held difference positions in the work force, from Law Enforcement (Jacksonville Police Department and Morgan County Sheriff), to management positions in the financial field. For the last 33 years, he worked full time and part time for Bob Standfield. Bob was a very good friend of Gary’s and was one of the most giving and caring persons he ever met. Gary enjoyed bowling for several years and at one time, he was bowling five nights a week and double shifts two nights, until he met his future wife, Patty. The sport he enjoyed for over 60+ years was 3-cushion billiards. He was the Elks State 3-cushion billiards champion in the mid-80’s. He played in several tournaments throughout the Midwest. One of his favorite tournaments was in Medford, OR, which at the time, was the largest in the U.S. Two of the years, Gary went to Medford he was on the 1st place team of the tournament. He was member of the Knights of Columbus and a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge 682, Amvets post 100, and VFW Post 1379. He was also a past member of the Jacksonville Jaycees in which he was awarded Jaycee of the year. Gary and Patty’s greatest enjoyments, besides each other, were their trips to Las Vegas, Joliet and other casinos. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Church of Savior with interment in the Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be held 4:45 p.m. Thursday, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. at the Daws Family Funeral Home in South Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fellhauer tuition Aid Scholarship Fund at Routt Catholic High School.
