Gary N. Gansz, 73, of Winchester passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield. He was born, Jan. 2, 1947, the son of Fred and Elsie Swearingen Gansz. He married Connie Bishop, they later divorced. Gary then married, his lifelong companion, Fredie Baker, July 23, 2014. Surviving is lifelong companion, Fredie Baker of Winchester; special buddy, Wock; children, Jeff (Shelly) Gansz of Winchester, Jennifer Miller of Jacksonville, Craige Gernigin of Carrollton and adoptive son, Richie (Crystal) Burby of Alsey; grandchildren, Jennifer Hernandez, Lucas Gansz, Jacob Miller, Gracie Miller, DJ Gernigin, Kora Barnard, Krissa Gernigin, Autumn and Caleb Savage and Joey Burby; great grandchildren, Destiny, Kaden, Brianna, Charlie, Macie, Riley, Annabelle, Meah, Kohen and Ameila and siblings, Darrell Gansz, Mary Zimmerman and Brenda Gilbert. He was preceded in death by siblings, David, Larry and Fred Gansz, Wanda Berhinger, Judy Beckman and Erma Hall. Gary served in the Army in Forthood, Tx. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and spending time with everyone. No matter what, when someone needed help, he never turned anyone down. Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jun. 20, 2020, at the Alsey Pavilion. Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of arrangements.
