Gracie Marie Little

Grace Marie Shepherd Little, 95, of Patterson, the last to remain of the John and Tamsy (Evans) Shepherd family, peacefully passed away Friday July 20th at the Passavant Hospital with her family at her side. She was born September 8, 1916 in Scott County near Winchester. Grace married Clarence Wilson Little November 5, 1934 in Jacksonville. He preceded her in death after seventy-five years of marriage. Surviving four children, Jerry (wife, Carol) of Patterson, Lonnie (wife, Susan) of Glasgow, Sue (husband, Kevin) Cadwell, and Rod (wife, Rogenia) all of Winchester; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Dan (surviving, wife, Pauline) of New Canton; and eight siblings: Mary Day, Mable Simmons, Mildred Hardy, Eileen Hardister, Clarence “Bud” Shepherd, Russell Shepherd, AnnaBelle Shepherd, and Ray Shepherd. Grace was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church of rural Winchester for eighty-two years, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She dearly loved the Lord and always read her Bible. Some of her most precious and fond memories were with her large family of seventy. She loved cooking for her family and is most known for her famous homemade buns. She also enjoyed singing songs and telling stories. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester with interment at the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with family meeting friends from 5-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Sandridge Baptist Church.
