Jerry L. Miller, 84, of Murrayville passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Veteran’s Home in Quincy. He was born, March 3, 1938, in CA, the son of George A. and Margaret B. Oglesby Miller. He married, Sylvia M. White, Dec. 23, 1959, in Springfield. She preceded him in death Apr. 17, 2019. Surviving is daughter, Sherie (Todd) Cathorall of Rockport; granddaughters, Cassandra Cathorall of Columbia, MO and Leah (Josh) Morton of Mattoon; great grandson, Alexander Morton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons, Jerry Lee Jr. and James Lee and brother, Richard “Dick” Miller. Jerry served in the US Army for over 17 years. He was employed by Morgan County working as a dispatcher, a bailiff, and a police officer. He served as Chief of Police in Murrayville. Jerry was a member of the American legion in Murrayville and was an avid NASCAR fan. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Daws Family Funeral Home in Murrayville with interment in the Murrayville City Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Illinois Veteran’s Home building fund.
