LaDonna Lee Schofield Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LaDonna Lee Schofield, 78, of rural Winchester passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at the Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born, Dec. 25, 1936, in Sandoval, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Annabell Lee Cochran. She married George Russell Schofield, June 20, 1954, in Morgan County. Surviving is her husband, Russell Schofield; five children, Gene (Carol) Schofield of Winchester, Vicky (Harry) Pate, Nancy (Bryant) Sipes, Frank Schofield all of Murrayville, and David Schofield of Arenzville; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Cochran and David (Shelly) Cochran all of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Mike Acker. Ladonna enjoyed raising large gardens and canning the produce from her gardens. Each year she spent her summer canning over 1800 quarts of fruits and vegetables which she shared with her family. She loved crafting and making beautiful floral displays from the flowers she lovingly grew. The last 15 years she and Russell spent winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and took many trips into Mexico together. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to the many who will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday after 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
