Larry Dean Massey

Larry D. Massey, 78, of Jacksonville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at his residence. He was born, Aug. 10, 1943, in Jacksonville, the son of Carl and Mabel Phillips Massey. He married Linda L. Claussen in 2007. Surviving is wife, Linda of Jacksonville; children, Annette (Jay) Woods of Jacksonville and Brian Massey of Quincy; stepchildren, Troy (Toni) Birdsong of TN and Shannan Manning Birdsong of Springfield; grandchildren, Tyler Reeves and Andrea Reeves; step grandchildren, Olivia, Zane, Josie, Paige and Remi and step great grandchildren, Zuri and Maisey. He was preceded in death by one brother and sister. Larry was a member of the First Christian Church in Jacksonville. He enjoyed working with horses, motorcycle riding, woodworking and flying planes. Larry had been in the optical business since he was 15 years old. He had worked with Dr. Jacques, Dr. Walter Frank and retired with 25 years of service at Schultz and Geblhausen. To all his family, friends, colleagues and patients, he was so appreciative for them and having them touch his life in so many ways. From his wife, Linda, “I’ve known many toads in my life till God sent me my Prince.” A prayer service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan 10, 2022, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville with a celebration of life visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s or First Christian Building Fund.
