Norma Jean Long, of Jacksonville passed peacefully 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2021, surrounded by family, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab from a long battle of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born, Feb. 20, 1931, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Lloyd C. West and Pauline (Griffin) West. Norma is survived by her husband of 69 years, Lawrence; three children, Michael (Joann) Long of Lindenhurst, Debora (Tom) Tholen of Jacksonville and Wesley (Sally) Long of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Chris Cooley, Robert Thomas, Daniel Long, Kate Long and Savanna Long; great grandchildren, Hannah Damm, CJ Cooley, Aspen Long and Lorenzo Long; great great grandchild, Ellie Damm; nephew, Glenn West; niece, Kendra Moore; brother-in-law, Jack Long; sister-in-law, Connie Esslinger and special cousins of the west family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lloyd E. West and sister-in-law, Shirley West. Family services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association. Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
