Richard W. Taylor Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard W. Taylor, 87, of Winchester passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the Scott Co. Nursing Center in Winchester. He was born, April 11, 1935, in Cook County. He was raised by his grandfather, William Taylor. Surviving are children, Dennis W. (Pam) Taylor of Jacksonville and June (Darryl) Beard of Arenzville; grandchildren, Rob Taylor of New London, MO, Bryan (Molly) Taylor of Winchester, Matt (Annie) Beard of Lockport, IL and Melissa (Josh) Whitney of Westminster, CO; great grandchildren, Ayedin Taylor, Isaac and Maddox Taylor, Ava and Cooper Beard, and Adam Whitney plus companion of 20 years, Beth Johnson and beloved dog, Oscar. Richard was a born again Christian and attended the Winchester United Methodist Church. From 1960-1985, he owned the Pla-Mor Pool Hall in Winchester and owned and operated Taylor Painting, retiring last year. As a dedicated Wildcat/ Wolverine and Cougar fan, he was a proud supporter of the Winchester Sports Boosters. Richard was a host coach for the Winchester Basketball Tournament for 45 years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan since 1960. He became known as Man of Many Mirrors. He collected mirrors for over 20 years with a total of 1167 in his collection. Richard loved his community and all the events that were held. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Daws Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Winchester Sports Boosters, Winchester United Methodist Church or Winchester EMS.
