Rose Mary Lonergan, 86, of South Jacksonville passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born, October 14, 1928, in Woodson, the daughter of William T. and Catherine Burke Casey. She married John F. “Jack” Lonergan, July 26, 1950, in Jacksonville. He preceded her, July 13, 1989. Surviving are her children, Jean (David) Irelan of Sparland, Frances (James) Mahoney of Downers Grove, Therese (David) Haenni of DesPeres, Mo, James (Cathy) Lonergan of Murrayville, John (Ellen) Lonergan of Murrayville, Joe (Tammi) Lonergan of Alexander, Martin (Sandy) Lonergan of Jacksonville, and Tom (companion Kathy) Lonergan of Woodson; 18 grandchildren, Gina Lonergan, Robert Lonergan, Mary Streitmatter, Elizabeth Vonk, Christine Irelan, Jennifer Grant, Jessica Tate, Sarah Lonergan, Clayton Lonergan, Meghan Mahoney, Jack Mahoney, Jaime Mahoney, Danielle McGee, Kelly Lonergan, Benjamin Haenni, Joseph Haenni, Lukas Lonergan, and Charles Lonergan; 12 great grandchildren, Lucy Lonergan, Owen Lonergan, Connor Lonergan, Kayla Streitmatter, Kyle Streitmatter, Ty Phillips, Naylani Grant, Lyla Grant, Jayla Tate, Mya Lonergan, Addylynn McGee, and Nova McGee; and sister-in- law, Frances Casey of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Casey; three infant siblings; and sister-in-law, Betty Casey. Rose Mary graduated from McMurray College in 1950. She taught business classes in Franklin and Winchester School Districts until retirement. She was a member of Our Saviors Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and Morgan County Fair Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling in both the United States and Europe. She enjoyed reading, keeping up on current events, and sending greeting cards. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Our Saviour Catholic Church in Jacksonville with interment in the St. Bartholomew Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Daws Family Funeral Home in South Jacksonville. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Bartholomew Cemetery or Women In Crisis.
