Russell Thomas “Tom” Davis, 81, of Jacksonville passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. He was born, Jan. 23, 1941, in Decatur, the son of Russell E. and Mary Laverne Browning Davis. Surviving are children, Troy (Candy) Davis of Jacksonville, Todd (Julie) Davis of Jacksonville and Kelle (David) Reid of Newburgh, IN; 4 grandkids, Dylan, Jeffery, Brock and Kris; 4 great grandkids, Landon, Mattison, Ellie and Eden; sister, Cheryl Ray Burland of Quincy and best friend, Jim Hamilton (Nancy Brogdon). He was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, Roy “Pat” Patterson and his beloved dog, Molly. Tom was an Army Veteran. He was owner/operator truck driver for over 50 years. He was very proud of his 11 million safe miles. He took pride and was meticulous about all of his trucks. He went as far as naming them. Henrietta 1 and 2, etc. If you knew Tom during hid driving days, you knew him as “Torsion Bar.” Tom was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan and was a season ticket holder at Charlotte International Speedway, where he attended several races. He enjoyed watching the STL Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He loved his kids, grandkids and his dogs. His favorite time of the year was spending Christmas with his children. A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A visitation will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to PAWS.
