Cheryl Ann Perry

Cheryl Ann Perry, 71, of Jacksonville, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, where she met her Savior, Jesus, face to face, and was joyfully reunited with her beloved son, Brandon. Cheryl was born in Jacksonville, Illinois, on May 1, 1955, to Cecil L. “Bud” Brogdon, Jr, and Donna (Sollman) Brogdon. She married Gregory M. Perry on August 22, 1980, and he survives. Together, Cheryl and Greg welcomed their son, Brandon, on March 24, 1991. One of six children, Cheryl is survived by her mother, Donna Brogdon of Jacksonville; her siblings, Terry (Sarah) Brogdon of Franklin, Roger (Kimberly) Brogdon of Jacksonville, Sheila (Jim) Pate of Franklin, and Jerry (Jodi) Brogdon of Woodson; several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Bud; her eldest brother, David, and his wife, Linda; and her only child, Brandon. Cheryl loved her family deeply and was considered a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She had a special gift for making those she loved feel cared for and for turning ordinary moments into special memories. She especially enjoyed the holidays and had a way of making family gatherings brighter, warmer, and more memorable. Cheryl found joy in the simple things. She loved reading, traveling, gardening, collecting recipes, baking, and hunting for a good bargain at a garage sale. She made the best brownies and chocolate chip pancakes. They were family favorites and will always bring back sweet memories of her. After many years at Capitol Records, Cheryl spent the latter part of her working life at the Illinois School for the Deaf where she served as a dorm parent. She loved the children dearly and found great fulfillment in caring for and encouraging them. Cheryl was a devoted believer and follower of Christ. Her faith was the center of her life. She had a true servant’s heart and was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. She was quick to forgive and slow to judge. She loved unconditionally, and never hesitated to extend grace. Her love for God was evident in the way she lived and cared for those around her. Cheryl will be deeply missed, fiercely loved, and forever remembered. Her family is grateful for the years, laughter, love, and memories they were blessed to share with her and take comfort in knowing that Cheryl is at peace, free from pain, and finally home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
