Frances C Ballard

Frances C. Ballard, 98, of Roodhouse passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, with her sons, Gary and Dale by her side. Frances Caroline was born, March 7, 1925 in Carrollton, the daughter of Paul and Eler Turner Anderson. She married Kenneth F. Ballard, Jan. 8, 1947, in the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. He preceded her in death, July 1, 1983. Surviving are sons, Gary Lynn (wife, Cheryl) Ballard of Jacksonville and Dale Brian Ballard of Roodhouse; daughter-in- law, Judith Lynn Ballard of Plymouth, MI; grandchildren, Larry Lee (wife, Jeanette) Ballard Jr. of Amherst, NH and David Kenneth Ballard of Jacksonville; great grandchildren, Benjamin Shea, Samuel Kenneth, Natalie Judith, and Isobel Rey Ballard all of Amherst, NH; and one sister, Betty Jo (Betsy) Reynolds of Godfrey. In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by one son, Larry Lee Ballard and two sisters, Pauline Smith and Alma Anderson; brothers-in-law, Clarence Smith and George Reynolds; and niece, Donna Kay Smith. Frances graduated from Carrollton High School in 1943. She owned and operated Ballard TV Service & Repair in Roodhouse along with her husband for many years. She was employed as a secretary for Mid-State’s Aluminum (ILMO Sash) until its closing. Frances served as the Roodhouse City Clerk from 1979 until May 2001. She was a dedicated member of the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. Her family appreciated her love of family, sports, and sense of humor. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and treasured being called “Aunt Franny”. Frances was very grateful for her neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the Roodhouse First Baptist Church with internment in the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, Meals on Wheels, or the Fernwood Cemetery.
