Patricia G. Patton

Patricia G. Patton, 78, of Chatham, IL, died at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Regency Care Center. She is lovingly known as Pat to her family and friends. Pat was born July 29, 1946, in Ironton, MO, the daughter of Elmer and Agnus (Bone) Warren. Pat attended Southeast Missouri State and was the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 1970. She taught fifth grade in Pevely, MO for two years before marrying the love of her life, Edward L. Patton on May 29, 1972, and then moved to Canton, IL. She was a dedicated mom to her sons, Adam and Andrew. Pat worked with the Illinois Department of Public Aid for ten years, Graham Hospital for four years, and as a secretary of the First Presbyterian Church in Canton until she retired in 2010. Pat was a staunch advocate for her son, Adam, who had cerebral palsy and served on the board for West Central Service Corporation in Western Illinois. Pat loved to sing especially with her children and grandchildren, the Fulton County Singers, and her church. Pat was active in church and worked on the mission committee and their Vacation Bible School. She loved to travel and was able to experience many adventures with her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Norma Jones and Donna McCarver; and her son, Adam. Pat is survived by her husband, Edward Patton of Chatham; son, Andrew (Kendra) Patton of Springfield; sisters and brother, Carol Vickery, Joyce (Buddy) Browers, Doris Miles all from Ironton, MO, Virginia (Marianne) Warren of Davenport, IA, and Stanley (Marion) Warren of Fenton, MO; grandchildren, Gwendolyn Patton and Harrison Patton; and many nieces and nephews that she adored. The family will host a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Hope Presbyterian Church, 2211 Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Goodman officiating. A committal service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson.
