Roy Neal Keller

Roy Neal Keller, born August 20, 1946, passed away May 28, 2012 at his sister’s home, (Carolyn and Joe Ness) in Leon, Iowa at the age of 65. Roy was born on the family farm, west of Pleasanton, Iowa, in Decatur County, son of Raymond and Alice Mark Keller. Roy was a longtime resident of Winchester, Il. Roy was the 11th child of a family of 13. Roy grew up on the family farm, attending school at the rural Scott School, then attended Pleasanton School and later moved with his family to Decatur, Iowa, where he completed his education. After graduating from high school in 1965 he joined the U.S. Army and served 3 years in the military, stationed in Texas, and Korea. He met and married Rose Ellen Dark in October 1968 while stationed in Texas, and to this union he was blessed with 3 children, Edward, Marie and Penny. After the military, they made their home in Des Moines and Roy worked at Firestone Tire Company for 17 years. They then moved to Winchester and he worked at Brahler Tire Company in Jacksonvile for 24 ½ years, retiring April 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose in December 2008, his parents, Raymond and Alice Keller, and 3 brothers, Dale, Guy, and Jim Keller, and 2 brothers-in-law, Lester Rumley and Warren Jackson. Left to treasure his memories are son, Ed (wife, Mona) of Runnels, Iowa; daughters, Rose Marie (husband, Donnie) Harrell of Merritt, Illinois, and Penny (friend, Ted Williams) Davidson of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Mandie (husband, Joey) Crawford of Winchester, Dawn (husband, Jason) Parsons of Canton, Lee (fiancé, Lexi Burton) Harrell of Jacksonville, Sara Harrell of Alsey, Alexis Harrell, Corky Davidson, Megan and Nikki McEuen of Runnells, Iowa, and Johnathian (wife, Jenna) Brown of Fort Drumm, New York; and great grandchildren, Jenna and Liam Crawford, Madyson and Carter Parsons, and Carter Harrell. Also surviving are brothers, Gary Keller (wife, Donna) of Decatur, Iowa; Norman Keller (wife, Patti) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Richard Keller (wife, Jerri) of Indianola, Iowa; sisters, Ruth Heick (husband, Ray) of Davis City, Iowa, Gail Rumley of Osceola, Iowa, Faye Blunt (husband Harold) of Leon, Iowa; Reva Jackson of Grants Pass, Oregon, Dee Lukenbill (husband, Jack) of Lamoni, Iowa and Carolyn Ness (husband, Joe) of Leon, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Lela Keller of Creston, Iowa and Jean Keller of Garwin, Iowa. Roy is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews. Roy had a great sense of humor and a sweet smile to everyone he met. He was truly a man loved by many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roy was a dedicated employee for many years. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in his leisure time. Visitation will be held Friday, June 1st at 1 p.m. at Mackey Daws Funeral Home in Winchester with funeral services beginning at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
